The Ankole Buck is one of Africa’s most iconic animals — a massive, long-horned cattle breed native to the Great Lakes region of East Africa, revered for centuries as a symbol of wealth, status, and spiritual power. This large ceramic bowl captures the Ankole’s commanding presence in sculptural form, with the distinctive sweeping horns rendered in bold, expressive ceramic and the bowl nestled within the form of the head.

Hand-built and hand-finished in Rialheim’s Robertson studio, each piece is entirely unique. The raw, textured clay surface is left largely unglazed, allowing the natural character of the African clay to speak for itself — earthy, tactile, and deeply rooted in the landscape where it was made.
